- signs of regular use, with a fair amount of wear and tear and some light scuffs on the optics, typical for a lens of this age and not expected to affect image quality. These vintage lenses were built tough, and minor cosmetic flaws are common.
Designed for high-altitude aerial photography, where light gathering was critical the Kodak Aero-Ektar 7" f2.5 (178mm, Yellow Dot) was a fast, radioactive WWII-era aerial lens known for its dreamy, glowing look at f/2.5, with soft focus, swirly bokeh, and heavy vignetting. Stopped down to f4 or f5.6, it sharpens up while keeping some character. Originally for 5"×5" film, it works on 4×5 large format (with movements) or creates artistic effects on smaller formats. Its thorium glass may yellow over time but adds to its unique contrast. Ideal for portraits and vintage-style photography, it’s not clinically sharp but delivers a one-of-a-kind cinematic look. Requires adaptation (no built-in shutter).
